City Palace is situated in the heart of Jaipur. It includes buildings like Mubarak Mahal and Chandra Mahal in its premises. When the capital was shifted to Jaipur, Royal city palace became the seat of the Kacchwaha kings. The royal palace encloses a royal museum. Chandra Mahal is basically the regal residence. 1. City Palace Historical Overview  :

The Palace was constructed by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II and subsequent rulers the construction began around 1729 and lasted for nearly 3 years. The palace completed in 1732.

Along with his extraordinary architects Vidhyadhar Bhattacharya and Sir Samauel Jacob, Sawai Jai Singh, he took keen interest in architecture.   1. Mubarak Mahal: The twist is that Mubarak Mahal is a blend of Islamic, Rajputana and European architectural styles. It is built in late 19thMaharajMadho Singh II. It is in the form of a museum.   2. Chandra Mahal:

Chandra Mahal is a magnificent and grand building with seven stories. The interesting part is that every floor has its own name like Sukh-Niwas, Chabi-Niwas, etc.

This complex is fully marble floored. It is adorned with various artefacts. 2 Big silver vessels are lying around to appreciate the beauty of the hall.

3. Timings and Nearby places to Visit:

The admittance starts at 9:30 am in the morning. Though it is spread in a vast area, the ideal time to be spent in the palace is around 2 hours. For art enthusiast, it may take longer. Do not forget to take you DSLR with you. The Palace gives the best photographs. Some areas have a higher fee to visit and are open to VIPs or study groups.
